TEAM: Ctrl Z
We’re students with the Design Factory Melbourne (Australia) and come from different design backgrounds and disciplines. We are passionate about designing to help people and designing to benefit the future.
We hope that our solution to this project is something that is of true value to both people and society and hope that you enjoy the journey as much as we will. Read along with our process in our blog posts below.
Welcome to our team page!
Our Process
Ctrl Z: A Journey to the Centre of the Uterus
“Ah, women and young girls, how incomprehensible are your feminine hearts! When you are not the timidest, you are the bravest of creatures.” – Jules Verne, Journey to the Centre of the Earth We are so incredibly grateful to have been able to take part in the 2022-23...
Ctrl Z: Preparing for the Good Old Days
"I wish there was a way to know you were in the good old days before you actually left them." – Andy Bernard (Ed Helms, The Office, S9E23, 2013) Well, we aren't quite done to start reminiscing, though we have been through so much in last 8 months and we've achieved so...
Ctrl Z: The Best Things in Life are Freeze!
We've made it, after months of work, to the inevitable Design Freeze. This is the point of no return, really, where we've taken from our previously established design details and refined them into a final solution. This post will provide our solution overview and more...
Ctrl Z: Un-Oeuf Stalling, Give Up the Goods
It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for; the design details!
Here are all our details so far; we’re showcasing EndoAware, EndoBot and Wellness Wheels that we’ll be continuing to develop as we approach our design freeze in the coming weeks.
Ctrl Z: Your Attention, Please
Culminating from months of research, idea generation and concept development, we’d like to present to you our most refined problem space and our future 2030 scenario in a new light and all its details. Our concept has also been established and can be found in our next post.
Ctrl Z: Design Details Presentation Video Post
No clever pun, but don't worry, we have more coming soon! Though we've detailed everything in other posts—our Problem Space, Future Scenario, and Design Details—we'd also like to take the opportunity to share our presentation video below with you. An 8-minute overview...
Ctrl Z: Crop It Like It’s Hot
An abundance of ideas is a blessing. Until you have to sort through them all and crop out the ideas that just don’t fit the bill. We develop, establish, test and decide on idea directions and concepts a lot in hopes that our direction will one day be cemented into something intriguing, something of value to both the user and our future 2030 society.
Ctrl Z: Back to the Future
Returning for an epic 2023, we’ve spent time establishing a more refined problem space and establish our future scenario for how we see 2030. This will assist in kicking off Phase 2 with a bang and lead us straight into design developments!
Ctrl Z: Where were we going with this?
Where were we going with this again? Some of us aren’t that great with directions, especially after a holiday break! Here’s the penultimate post of Phase 1, explaining our concept and taking you through our presentation slides and our white paper report–MediScan!
Ctrl Z: Let’s not make any pour decisions!
After intense brainstorming, we have started looking at our ideas in a more practical light. This involves an idea audit, looking at how the idea will shape up against our problem statement and the values of SDG 3.
Ctrl Z: Caught in a Brainstorm!
Here, we’d like to introduce our Idea Bank! Our time at IdeaSquare in Geneva allowed us to explore our research areas more in-depth and begin the brainstorming process, culminating in ideation, prototyping and presentations. These ideation sessions continued for us locally on our return to Melbourne, allowing us to explore our opportunity areas that we had not gotten the chance to previously.
Ctrl Z: When you don’t know what you’re doing
All projects start with the Unknown Phase. Where you know next to nothing about what you’re looking at or where you’re going. You have to shape your problem and address the project, all while trying to understand what you can with what you can find through research. The Ctrl+Z team ambitiously explored 14 different opportunity areas for this project and has summarised these research areas in this post.
Ctrl Z: How much does a polar bear weigh?
We want to take a moment to introduce ourselves.
We’re Eilish, Nildene, Kieran and Howard. We’re from Design Factory Melbourne, and the four of us make up Team Ctrl+Z. We’re excited to be taking on the CBI A3 project and spending these next exciting months looking at SDG 3.

Nildene Spagnuolo
UX Design & Comms Design
I come from a User Experience and Communication Design background and I am currently extending my skills in postgraduate studies at Swinburne.
I have a passion for design research and designing for people. My design thinking “superpower” is time travel; I like looking at everything being done and to be done, and then seeing how it fits in the grander scheme of a project.
Kieran Lewis
Industrial Design
I began my design journey in Engineering where I had one CAD subject in 2nd year and absolutely fell in love, and decided that Industrial Design was the perfect fit for me. So, I made the switch and never looked back.
I am so passionate about all things design and love to push myself to learn more, I live to challenge myself and only feel comfortable when I’m out of my comfort zone. My goal as a designer is to help people and solve problems in a creative way and I am very excited for the future of design.
Haowei Tu (Howard)
Comms Design
Hi, my name is Haowei Tu. You can call me Howard. I am studying at Swinburne University of Technology. I am working on a master’s degree in the Department of Design at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, specialising in graphic design, packaging, and communication design.
I am strongly influenced by Eastern culture as he has lived in Taiwan since birth. I constantly think about bringing stories of his own culture into his projects, such as using Oracle or traditional royal patterns as features of my projects.
