This week we had our Mid-way design presentation. Our goal for this stage was to have a strong 2030 concept in place. We took our explorations further and came up with an idea of a Runway Scanner that can scan for illicit substances in the plan itself after the point of landing and during the taxiing to the terminal.
The reason we decided to take this up as a concept was that our PESTLE canvas redirected our future scenario back to an increase in disposable income, travel, and connectivity. We looked at Melbourne Airport’s goals for the next 20 years and aligned it with our future scenario to come up with a cohesive concept.
We realised our scanner would not only do the job of blocking illegal importation of drugs but will also have secondary benefits like making traveller experience better.
Dissecting our timeline and comparing it with Melbourne Airport’s, we came up with a design solution for 2025 called HALO PAD that simplified the declaration process and made it easy to use.
The feedback we received was to narrow down our stakeholders and clearly mention whom we are actually designing for.
Our next steps are to review our goals and deadlines and start working on them in a strategic manner while we continue to develop our design so it fits for 2030.
Dear team,
Sorry, I overlooked this post. So some of my questions in my comment from last weeks post are answered by the pictures. I guess others are still valid. Because I assume the feedback was internally so far and you did not go out in the wild yet with your prototype.
